Back pain associated with capoeira

Just like any other sport or fitness program, your muscles will be sore from a capoeira workout. Sometimes you discover muscles you didn't know you had because you never used them before practicing art of capoeira. Beginners usually complain from back pain, mostly caused by the attempt to learn the ginga.

The best way to reduce the possibility of back pain is to train the ginga correctly. Beginners often suffer from sore back muscles because they tend to overbend at the hips, making their upper body extend past their knees. A capoeirista is taught to ginga low, something that beginners have a hard time doing. Staying low is acomplished by bending at the knees, and keeping your feet well apart. Instead, a novice will try to lower their bodies by bending their backs.

To prevent capoeira back pain it is best to ask your capoeira master the proper posture you back should keep while practicing the ginga. This is not to say that your back muscles arent used in any other way in capoeira. In fact, capoeira is so dynamic you tend to use your most of muscles for different moves that require strength, flexibility and balance.
